Center press roll (wet section)
One or more (suction) press rolls are pressed against the center press roll in modern press sections to remove a large amount of water from the paper web. The center press roll is solid, made of granite or steel with a coating. Spherical roller bearings are used at all positions as shaft deflections and high loads have to be accommodated. All bearings are connected to a central oil lubrication system.
